Shopify's new feature called "Remember Me" is a simple way to help your customers speed through checkout. It's a little tickbox that allows Shopify to securely store sensitive details like passwords and credit card info. 

Having your info stored on Shopify's secure servers makes the checkout process way simpler. Your customer sees something they like on your store? They can hit "add to cart" and checkout within a few seconds -- rather than the couple of minutes it may take to enter credit card info each time. The Remember Me feature allows customers to save credit card info, shipping and billing information if they want to. 

How Does it Work?

Your store has to enable Remember Me through your admin (see below), and your customer has to tick the box.

When they do, their shipping and billing info, including their preferred credit card numbers, will be stored on Shopify's servers.

They'll be asked for their mobile phone number, and whenever they checkout next they'll receive a text message with a 6 digit code to enter. This means the process is more secure and protects against identity theft. 

Customers opting for Remember Me can use their saved information on any Shopify store that has enabled the new feature. If a customer saves their info on one Shopify store, that information isn't shared with another store until the customer places an order. 

How Do I Enable Remember Me?

To enable Remember Me on your store:

  1. From your Shopify admin, click Settings, and then click Checkout

  2. In the Remember Me section, selected Enabled 

With that, your customers can now opt-in to Remember Me and use it during checkout time for their convenience. 

The Fine Print 

To enable Remember Me on your store…

  • You must be using Shopify Payments

  • Your store language must be set to English

  • You can’t have any checkout customisations in your theme 

  • You must have customer accounts set to either "optional" or "disabled"
